Turn off the Lights

by Darlene Martin   Sep 16, 2006

I'm just sitting for you to come on home...
Like the desert waiting for the rain..
Waiting for you...
I wait to be held and lifted off the chair..
I'm impatient now....
A glass water I hold waiting for you...
The door stays closed until you walk through..
Waiting here viewing out the window where I know I can see you..
Waiting to run to the door when it rings...
Counting the stars..
Ive reached to a hundred and two..
Still waiting here..
Like the flowers of spring to bloom..
On this chair I stay..
Not to move...
You come on home..
Where we lie in bed..
As you turn off the light to say good night..
Ive been waiting for you to come on home..
To be safe from the pain and cold..
I sleep until the sun rays awake..
For another day where I'll sit ans wait for you to come on home...
