I remember

by steelpricess   Sep 16, 2006

I see you from a distance
And you seem to be alright
While I lie in the sorrow
Of the heartbreak you left behind
As the drum beat grows louder
You don’t even hear as I call out your name
As the distance between us grows larger
My heartache grows deeper
But for one moment
As I sit here wondering what could have been
I remember
The petals of the flowers that you gave to me
And as I look at your hands
I remember
The pleasure that they gave to me
And every time I look at your face
I remember
The look of terror I saw in your eyes that day
That faithful day in which you found out the truth
For when you saw that body lying in front of me
With his blood running down my lips
You ran and in turn
Condemned yourself to such a fate
For rejection is not something that I take with a light heart
So as I look at you
I can hear the drums beating louder and louder
As I hear your heartbeat slowly die.
For when you are destined to live forever without a heart
The song of a heartbeat
Becomes a game
with its ever changing melody.
