Black swan

by Elynnka   Sep 18, 2006

Fields of whispers covered in darkness
Where thoughts scatter and feelings regress
A veil of mystery covers the silver moon
As the flute of Death sings a morbid tune.

Feathers as black as Devil’s Night can be
Eyes blood like red that are used to see
Everything far and everything near
To sense every joy and ever fear.

Faint moonbeams paint its silhouette
As ravens and crows sing a strange duet -
The stars are shining cold up on the sky
Reflecting their rays on the wings of a butterfly.

On the porcelain moon that reigns above the lake
Only eyes of purity that can reach beyond all fake
Are worthy of seeing this rare beautiful creature
That’s hiding in this peaceful sanctuary of nature.

Lavender scent and whispers of the night
Embrace this place along with silver moonlight
As rose petals are falling from above upon
The sacred wings of a graceful black swan.

Nice word usage. Different style and really some excellent words to portray this. I liked the imagery. Fourth stanza stood out to me. Overall very dark....Great write.
