Love Eternal

by Twisted Heart   Sep 18, 2006

Was the window of opportunity closed a little tight
Was it locked up safely for a special reason just tonight
Is there an inkling of a chance that it will open up again
Or was the chance you gave me, the only one, my friend.

When you said you loved me, did you want a quick return
Or was my unresponsive stare, a lesson for you to learn
Did you think a few words would break my solemn vow
To think a bit more realistic, than what I'm thinking now.

Sometimes, It's not the words you say, that keeps me holding back
It's the actions that you show each day that keeps my mind on track
Words come too easily when you want things to go your way
And even if you mean them, it seems like a card for you to play.

You'll hold me with such passion, one touch and I feel lost
But is my heart strong enough to absorb what it will cost
To feel the fire of your words and weaken by your touch
Would it make me forget the love, that I am speaking of.

So don't think just because I didn't answer right away
That I didn't have those feelings that you said to me today
Three simple words that evoke a power too strong to see
Must be the ones that you hold dear, and last an eternity.
