Sweet Dreams, My Darling You

by xSecrets and Lies are Minex   Sep 20, 2006

Sweet dreams, my darling you
You would say, leaving the door a jar that night,
My mind overwhelmed with the stories you told,
Magic and mermaidsâ?¦
Sweet dreams were to be.

Sweet dreams, my darling you
You would say, sweetly and sighing
Another story and another song
No magic and little mermaids
Sweet dreams only an armâ??s length away.

Sweet dreams my darling you
You would say as you slammed the door shut
Shouts and screams resisting the story,
Teddy felt your wrath
Sweet dreams werenâ??t meant to be.

Sweet dreams, my darling you
You would say, tears running down your face
Pleading and begging not to tell the monsters,
A magical secret
Sweet dreams were no more.

I hate you, my darling daughter
You would say, shouting at the floor
No more stories just get to sleep
Crying and beating
Were sweet dreams an imaginary thing?

Sweet dreams, my darling you
She would say closing my door at night
No stories, no singing, no crying or weeping
A hug and a kiss.
Sweet dreams tonight.

Sweet dreams, my darling you
You whispered to the empty room.
The monsters safely locked in your head
No story but truth
Sweet dreams for your darling, tonight.

this is my first poem so please comment, it\'s about a mother unable to cope with her daughter and she suffers with anger (its kinda based on reality)
