Blowing in the Wind

by Michael D Nalley   Sep 22, 2006

I am looking for the answers blowing in the wind
For a moment of peace, the issues I would rescind
With the bliss of writing slang verses, and free wheeling
Borrowing lines from master poets such as Bob Dylan

I feel just like the proverbial creature void of form
Desperately seeking somehow, shelter from the storm
When I offer my innocence I get repaid with scorn
Sometimes in my dark hours I wish I had never been born

I don't believe there is an end to the trouble a woman can bring
But longwinded whining is never a solution to anything
I confess I've had doubt. I've said bless me Father I have sinned
While wanting to just shout, all we are is dust in the wind

I've been blown away by lyrics lingering in my head
Influenced by my peers, and the things that I have read
You know it is not only the wise weatherman that knows.
The political climate, and which way the wind blows

The world is mostly ruled by vices such as greed and lust
Is there one of us that has not been caught up in the gust
Sometimes I pray for serenity, and a sacred gentile breeze
Peace that surpasses all understanding to give my poor heart ease

Great job. My favorite lines were
"I've been blown away by lyrics lingering in my head"

This poem wasn't as strong or deep as your others. But it was still very good.

Being a huge music fan, I was partial to this piece at the mention of Bob Dylan in the first stanza.

Perhaps that makes me a biased reader (which is not a good thing in my job of writing reviews for the local newspaper) but I really enjoyed your poem. Very well written and a nice change from the usual cliche poetry.
