Mistakes and regret

So many mistakes so much regret
I want to let go of the past
I want to just forget it all
I wish I could let go of it all
I wish I could take it all back
My intentions were never bad
But some how it all became wrong
A lie and then another
Lies kept building up
When one day the lie turned into the truth
I didn't want it to happen
But I was in high spirits when it did
And then I went and said something stupid
This changed it all
I don't know if I cared then but now I know I do
I guess once you lose something
You know what it means to you
