Lookin' Up To You

by Amber   Sep 22, 2006

Through my first words
You taught me to talk
You held my hand
Durin' my first steps
You never gave up
And I learned that best

(Chorus)
Growing up
Lookin' up to you
I was always just
One step behind
But you made sure
The place I found
Was always mine

Then grade school came
Took me away
Those party scenes just weren't me
But you should know
Cause you taught me well
I wonder if you could ever tell

I was
(Repeat Chorus)

My whole life
I've been looking up to you,
To show me what I should do
To teach me right from what is wrong
You showed me life's not about if you belong

-------Musical Break-------

Now I'm grown
A life of my own
And now I'm teaching my kids
Just like you did
And I hope one day
That they can say

Mommy,
I hope
You know
(Repeat Chorus)

And this place I found
Was mine

This is actually a song that I've been trying to write for my father to express how he's influenced me my entire life. It's not really finished and you don't know how the music goes but I thought I'd post it and see if anyone had suggestions or comments they'd like to add. Thanks. ^_^
