The White, White Room

by Keili   Sep 22, 2006

She got the note
Late in the day
The message she received
Told her to pray

He was in the hospital and
She was the last to know
She raked her hands over her face
As she trudged through the snow

The sky was dark
Illuminated by only a clouded moon
he had been rushed in
At early noon

Dressed for the occasion
In black on black
She masked her sorrow with glee
For that she had a knack

Not a soul could tell
Not a person could see
Her life had just turned into
Living hell

The rooms were white
Oh! So white
She made her choice
she would wait for him all night

But when morning came
She was alarmed to see
The only living soul in that white room
Was she

She jumped all about
And ranted and raved
Above her commotion
The nurses had to shout

They told her that through the night
He had passed to sleep
Eternally in a room that was white
Oh! So white

She shed a tear and wiped it away
For his life she would mourn
And in her own blood
His salvation she would pay

She grabbed a knife
Hidden among her skirts
And with a quick slashing
She gave up her own life

Now together they dance
And sing songs of love
In a chant above that
White, white room. Forever as a single dove.
