Torment

by Salinity   Sep 22, 2006

A withered rose on complacent soil
marked by innocence in recoil
saline from a soldier's wound
shadowed by conflicting crowns.

igneous layers whence fossils cry
murkey fountains from our common ground
a break in heaven's white-washed plight
a beggar's dream of love profound.

Yearning seeps, shoulders heave
sealed eyelids beneath napping dawn.

Translucent asbestos, our fears and walls
perfect earmuffs to Cyrus' call
ethanol bliss far from reach
the desperate and priviledged in separate sheaths.

Continents and cities linked by fate
tried by time's lost debate
what's a century, a decade to wait
only in cold my warmth is found.

Yearning seeps, shoulders heave,
sealed eyelids beneath napping dawn.
