Wrong Turn

by Michael D Nalley   Sep 24, 2006

I know how easy it is to make a wrong turn
I believe you must learn what I had to learn
Salvation is a gift no one can possibly earn
What is willed for us, we must carefully discern

You were created in the image and likeness above
Born of this world hopefully conceived in love
You have an immortal spirit not of this earth
With an inviolable dignity, value, and worth

Nothing that you can do, or nothing you can say
Can destroy this human dignity or take it away
Nature is not always merciful, gentle or kind
Human nature without guidance is often blind

I've been where there are dealers and thugs
I've seen people give away their soul for drugs
Give up their dignity for one serving of dope
But I believe where there is life there is hope

Ask in His name with a contrite heart and you will receive
I have witnessed awesome miracles for those who believe
Turn back toward the Light of Love and follow His way
Far from the despair, in the dark of night, waits a new day

That is my favorite part! Saying that there is so much lost in humanity, but there is always hope! I love how you made the bad things look like they can get overcome by the greater thing in life, the Lord! I have many poems about the Guy upstairs! He has helped me out of more than what I give Him credit for! Great job 5/5

My gosh this piece is stunning. It does flow and rhyme effortlessly, the word choice leaves an impact and the way your voice shines through is a nice touch. Excellent piece
