Dutch poem : Wat Was (=what was)

by Tine   Sep 24, 2006

Ok, here\'s the deal : Suda, a friend from p&q asked me to put some dutch poems online, and the translation with them. So that\'s what I\'m gonna do ;) There is a problem with it : when I\'ve translated the poems, they don\'t rhyme anymore, and often seem very pointless.. but yea! here we go!

Wat was (dutch)

Wat was
dat zal hetgene zijn
dat droomt in velden
zonder wegen
plotseling verdwenen
als schone schijn
en om woorden
heel verlegen
wat geweest is komt
nooit meer terug
wat lijkt een mooie tijd
en zonder zorgen
wat was is
vaak verlegen, en wordt
veel te vroeg
en veel te diep weggeborgen
wat zal komen is vol dromen
maar wat was doet
ons te veel pijn
omdat we soms hard beseffen
dat wat was nooit mee zal zijn...

What was (english)

What was
will be the thing
which dreams in fields
without roads
suddenly disappeared
as if it weren\'t true
and very shy
with words
wat has been
will never return
what seems to be a good time
and without worries
what was is
often shy, and
way to early
and way to often hidden
what will be is full of dreams
but what was
hurts us too much
because sometimes we realise
that what was will be no more..

here you go!
plz rate/comment kindly ;)

Leuk om ook eens een gedicht in het nederlands te lezen ;).. en nog een goed gedicht ook, al klinkt hij in het nederlands beter dan in het engels xxx iemand uit nederland

(what I said was, that I liked it to read something in Dutch, and that I liked the poem, but the Dutch version is better.. )
