Strong on my own

by Nelle   Sep 25, 2006

Why did you leave me here to fall?
You said you would help me to stand tall
I told you not to even try
Then you said you wouldn't let me cry

I told you to let me stand on my own
When will you see I am grown
I didn't need you to keep me strong
Now I see the whole time you were wrong

Through time I became dependent on you
I needed you to get me through
I forgot how to be strong for me
What happened to "This is how it will always be"?

You gave up and left me here
All I have is my knives and fears
Why did you make me depend on you
I was dying inside and all along you knew

You did teach me something I will never forget
Trusting you is one thing I'll always regret
I know I can be strong with you gone
"I don't need you" is what I've been saying all along.

I like how you started this poem with a question,
And ended it with a strong line.
    Very nice to read at.

    God Bless you always.

This was a pretty good poem Nelle. Not one of your better ones, but it was still good. Very strong and straight to the point type poem. Keep writing, and keep smiling.

PS. I am so much cooler than you :P

Great job. Very straightforward and clear. Be independent. Though between the 2nd and the 3rd stanza, I was a bit confused because the storyline changed suddenly.
