Pretty ugly

by Melissa   Sep 25, 2006

If I'm blind
give my heart eyes to blink
cause sight is more revealing
when it reflects internally,
but if were green
please pass us a flame
and together we'll cremate vanity
along with cosmo magazine

If phony desires prettify my veins
with fashionable nonsense,
then shame on me
cause the flesh has been
our worst enemy
since Eve ate off that old apple tree
now we feed our souls power bars
and swallow pills
to numb our falls
then we drag our limbs
to overcrowded gyms
so we can feel like were attracting men
who lust after youthful bodies

but age don't mean anything
besides the fact it makes us wise
so why do we apply wrinkle cream
on a face that tells a beautiful story

Socialites and butterflies
deform the truth to adorn their lies
and flutter around for selfish sins
begging strangers to ogle them,
but faddism cannot be our friends
so we forget to fall
for their narcissistic charms
cause we know the skin
is just an ornamental guise
to what truly matters
