Barriers

by The Last Soul   Sep 25, 2006

We wake up each morning
And greet each other with phony smiles
You're lyin' through your teeth
And I'm thinkin' all the while
That everything's okay
You're just going through a rough time
Well how was I suppose to know
The fault was mine

We're building these barriers
That each other can't break
So let's tear them down now
Before it's too late
On the inside we've built
An invisible wall
But on the outside we pretend
There's nothin' between us at all

Maybe I deserve this
Since I've done it before
So I guess I can't blame you
For wanting to show me the door
I just wish you hadn't
Worn a mask over your face
But how can I say that
When I did the same

We're building these barriers
That each other can't break
So let's tear them down now
Before it's too late
On the inside we've built
An invisible wall
But on the outside we pretend
There's nothin' between us at all

I know you're disappointed
In what I've become
But I'm disappointed
In things you have done
If we can't find a door
Out of this dark, narrow hall
Then let's just let go
And keep building these walls
