The Gift of Love

by {Miss} [A][L][L][I][S][O][N]   Sep 27, 2006

I left myself open
Laid flat on the floor with
My pages in plain sight
As you read every word this was hopeless
What was I trying to hide?

And so I told you everything
My story, beginning to end
I didn't leave out a single line
And I didn't try to pretend.

I let you flip the pages
Until you knew the person you 've always called your best friend
And I didn't close myself this time
You made it to the end.

I sat there worried for nothing
Waiting for a look of disgust
As I sat there waiting patiently
All I found was your trust.

So I even showed you the bad part
The one with all the rips
But all you did was fix them
With the magic of your lips.

All you did was hold me,
As we sat in some sort of dream
Whispered words were bandages
The shots stung, but I couldn't scream.

And so I thank you, Mr. Doctor
For coming down from above
To bring me your strongest medicine
The sweetest gift of love.
