This World

Reality where have you gone?
This cannot be the world that I know
Where is that beautiful place?
Are these the problems we have sewn?

There used to be happy faces
Never was there gloom such as this
Everyone used to care so much
Now no one forgives or forgets

The news was about better things
Not the murders and crimes shown now
The love of neighbor is truly gone
We've lost it for sure, but when and how?

Where are the morals I once knew
People used to have those before
Sex and cussing are commonplace
And closets have opened their doors

And the families, where are these
Why are they broken into two
These reasons are petty and stupid
Please tell me this isn't the truth

Oh dear, I need to take a rest
I cannot look upon these things
I can't believe this is the world
Into which our children we'll bring
