First Love

by Taylor   Sep 28, 2006

When you sigh, the breath passes through my lips,
And down a hidden tunnel to every nerve in my body,
burning with a silent electricity to my fingertips,
and delivering your magic to the corners of my soul.

You look at me and smile,
and that surge of absolute and giddy joy
lifts me into the sky, where in the clouds
our waking dreams collide in a surreal universe of color.

I hold my heart in steady place as you hold me so tenderly,
and make a mad dash for the shore, flailing like freedom
knowing your protective gaze is at my back.

Stay with me, my love, so the waves don't carry you away.

Dare me to control my lips? HAH! (I laugh at the thought.)
They bloom from that innocent smile, part,
and take fun in slipping past the defenses to touch yours.

Reprimand my hand for longing for your company.
Softly it lingers, timidly aching for the magic of your touch,
when your musical fingers make me mad with love.
