Just Another Fairy Tale.

I met him over two years ago,
We were the best of friends.
Ended up falling for each other,
We thought our story would never end.

It seemed like the perfect story,
Only, we had met on line.
We didn't care though,
To us, everything was just fine.

Our feelings seemed wrong to people,
And it was strongly disapproved of.
Some of my friends thought it was crazy,
That we could actually call it love.

But in all honestly,
We thought that it was real.
What else was that feeling?
I mean, can we deny how we feel?

He was just so perfect,
So sweet, and just so nice.
To be able to talk to me,
He would make any sacrifice.

I knew that he could be trusted,
Since he knew one of my home girls.
She said that he was a nice guy,
And that he would make me his whole world.

I'd seen his pictures,
And he had big brown eyes.
His hair was always spiked,
And he rarely told lies.

He was tall, dark and handsome,
And he had a good sense of style.
He was buff in a non-steroid way,
And he had a perfect smile.

If I needed him,
He would be there to listen.
And when my world was dark,
He'd make it glisten.

I'd never met a guy like him,
I didn't even know such a guy could exist.
He was calm and collected,
But if needed to, he'd raise his fist.

My life seemed to be complete,
And everything was going fine.
I was his special someone,
And he was mine.

Everything seemed to fit,
And it was all just right.
Until I was told the news,
That one fateful night.

My best friend came to me crying,
She grabbed me by the wrist.
Her face covered in tears,
And she told me this:

"Mindy, I'm so sorry.
I didn't want to let you know,
But baby girl,
You gotta let go.

He's gone, Mindy. He's gone!
He was hit by a car.
Why did this have to happen?
When you two had come so far.

I'm sorry, I'm so sorry.
I can't believe he died this way.
He was so young,
What's there to say?"

She was shocked, and she cried,
Tears stained her cheeks.
I stood there in disbelief,
And cried the next few weeks.

I didn't want to believe it,
But I knew it was true.
I kept wanting him to come back,
And say, "I was just kidding you."

But that never happened,
And my world came crashing down.
Either my face was emotionless,
Or always covered with a frown.

And soon, I bounced back to reality,
That love isn't something real.
It's just another word,
To identify what we feel.

And so I came to realize, that even though
I thought that this love wouldn't fail.
When it comes down to it,
Love really is just another fairy tale.
