On Shattered Glass, i Sleep

by Whitey   Sep 29, 2006

I watched the clock as each hour past,
Last night while I was sleeping,
I was sleeping on shattered glass.

Through the mattress it was piercing
Into my heart like a dagger,
Last night while I was sleeping.

So into my dreams I stagger,
All the while glass keeps striking
Into my heart like a dagger.

The night seemed to be inviting
In the world of darkness,
All the while glass keeps striking.

While my heart bled, I felt helpless;
I needed to break free
In the world of darkness.

I ached for the pain to cease to be;
I watched the clock as each hour past,
I needed to break free;
I was sleeping on shattered glass.
