I know its long, but please read and comment, this means a lot to me.

Quickly driving home from work, I know I can't be late,
I said I'd be home at 6 o'clock, at the traffic lights I wait.
I pull into my driveway at exactly 6:03,
I realise that I'm three minutes later than I said I'd be.

With shaking knees and a rapid heart, I nervously open the door,
I'm greeted with an icy stare like I've never seen before.
Timidly I run to a corner, dropping to my knees,
Although I know it won't work, I begin to beg and plead.

My sorry's land upon deaf ears,
Slowly he stands up, I taste my own tears,
He asks me if I love him, I tell him 'of course',
He says I need to be punished but he does so with remorse.

Into my dark corner, I press myself to hide,
He stands over me and yells for me not to cry,
That I will deserve everything I get,
That I didn't obey him, how could I forget??

Suddenly he raises a bat above his head,
With the pain that follows, I'd prefer to be dead,
Soon all the beatings just mold into one,
As my vision wavers, my body goes numb.

Soon I awake, and darkness has reigned,
Slowly my vision and balance I regain,
From the darkness he comes, he's seen I'm awake,
I try to stand, my whole body aches.

He pulls me into a long hug and a kiss,
Telling me he didn't want it to end like this,
Though if I wasn't going to listen to him,
I had to of course get what was coming.

With a look into his eyes, I can see he's sincere,
The reason he hit me is now so clear,
I disobeyed him, its completely my fault,
Him hitting me? No, it wasn't assault.

He was showing his love, he didn't want me hurt,
But there are some things I just haven't yet learned.
Everything I deserved I lovingly got,
I was taught my lesson for having forgot.
