Pride

by joy   Sep 29, 2006

Days became months now a year has gone past
With each hour drawing us further away
Memories come to my mind about the past
As I remember a love thrown away

Am about to open up a closed wound
As I take a look back on two hearts torn apart
Through the year I have found
How much love can hurt

Scenes staged of that last night in my minds eye
That night that brought so much distress
That night of the final goodbye
That night that mounted all my stress

That night I prayed
That you would come back
But that decision was made
Your choice wasn't me, but your work

This poem is about a friend
Who made a wrong decision in his life
I was unfortunately to witness the end
Of a girl who could have became his wife

Pride drove him even further away
The were many opportunities for him to come back
But all the opportunities he throw away
And concentrated on his work

He wasn't a man to apologize
He had asked her to move away
It was wrong he realized
For this was where her family stayed

This became a war of words
Things were said that were not meant
He decided to pack his bags
And on his way he went

Now his back where it started
And couldn't have expected to see her this way
For during that time the had parted
Her life had been taken away

Pride had destroyed the love
Pride had driven him away
And now she's above
That's a love thrown away
