Mara

by Poetvoices   Sep 30, 2006

The picture of beauty,
the picture of grace.
From miles away,
I see a smile on your face.

You glow like a light
for the world to see,
but you don't only shine for them,
you're an example to me.

Words could never REALLY say
how much you mean to me
and everyone around us.
They would all agree.

The impact you make every day,
you will never know
until the day we meet Jesus
at the end of life's bittersweet flow.

A leaf, or rather a whole tree,
represents your difference to the world.
You touch so many others,
and you're one, lone girl.

You, as the trunk, have many branches
on which are many leaves,
and those have stems and vains
as far as the eye can see.

It all, the branches,
the leaves stems and vains,
are people you've impacted
in times of peace, joy, or pain.

You may not even know some,
but you have changed their lives.
And as I have stated, you are my role model.
It is, for that, I strive.

Thank you, Mara, my friend
for giving me something to strive for,
and every time I miss the mark,
you push me to try once more.
