Puddles

Puddles

Today I walked along the street,
The cold wet pavement beneath my feet

Rain drops falling on my face,
My heart heard beating at it's steady pace

The sky so dark and grey that day,
And in the wind the trees would sway

I took all that was around me in,
Every gesture, every sin

And all it did was confuse me more,
And thoughts came out which I could not ignore...

But with them, I walked along the street,
Walking through puddles on cold concrete

And then I stopped...

And gazed into a tiny mirror on the ground,
I saw my world without a sound

No sound of the thoughts, tormenting me,
Just an image of the world is all I could see

And then the traffic light changed,
And I had to continue walking...
