A Message

by Chris Rodriguez   Oct 2, 2006

There's burning in this hope
Reaching the end of this rope
I don't feel needy for sleep
To fall down in the deep

Clock keeps moving to the void
The childhood that is destroyed
Making sense out of nonsense
This feeling is too intense

Orange lights signal these fears
The love felt disappears
Leading us to the question
My distortion is your obsession

If I pretend to keep a hold
My soul will be in control
Dreams keep the light
Beyond the horizon sight

But these images return
And the lighthouse burns
A show of fireworks
Marks the end of chances with her

In this cage I can see
Many people just like me
They don't cry or call for help
There's no desire to save themselves

Watching as they stray away
In reality they lost their way
All of them hold on to things
In memory of their wasted wings

Here comes the pain again
Not sure how much I can sustain
I've learned to float above my grief
I still need some relief

The story of a boy looking for one
Is sorrowful at first because there is none
But if the heart is filled with hope
Than the message cannot be wrong
Love is the one true song
