Kindred Souls

by Twisted Heart   Oct 2, 2006

Like kindred souls we stroll together
Upon life's dusty road we tread
Unlikely hearts that fight the weather
Of storms that brew inside our heads.

All barriers that rise between us
Have hit the rocky road of shame
And sought the penance of a trust
That knocked upon the door of pain.

Our strive for calm in times of hate
Have brought about the bitter fights
It gave us need to cry out in rage
And shake our fists with all our might.

Until our broken parts assemble
Into a form that we can hold
Now taken from what we remember
Of love that lived inside our souls.

Just pieces that the wind has swept
And scattered there inside our lives
No longer neatly are they kept
But in disarray they now reside.

So kindred souls we may be called
Because we both have faced the truth
Precious memories, we may recall
But we chose to live in solitude.
