He doesn't know if he can last another day
As his life breaks into fragments
He doesn't know if he can keep himself afloat
When his whole world is sinking
Times when he could laugh and smile
Times when he could go that extra mile
Just to make sure everything was perfect
But time went on
And that was such a long, long time ago
A memory fading in the dark
Doesn't even know if he can keep his sanity
Because everyone is taking too much
Doesn't know if he can keep his head up
When everyone is pulling him down
All he needs is time
Everyone wants more, expects him to be different
Can't understand that some things are more difficult
And he always stands alone
Stood out there searching
And he's forgetting what he's looking for
Stood looking out at the night
With the weight of the world on his shoulders
He thinks he's no good
But he is just himself
How could anyone be disappointed with him?
He is all that he is supposed to be
No one notices when his brow crinkles
When his eyes become glazed
When his mouth tightens
And he appears as though in a dream
Well that's who's hidden inside
Hes confused because everyone is taking him for a ride
Telling him what he ought to believe
He's getting tired, old beyond his years
And there's always a little more pressure,
A few more worries to add to his load
And so he still stands
Staring out at the open sea
No direction
Just the lapping waves in front of him
And he struggles for air as they swamp him
And he can't breathe
As they empty their words
And they spill their fear into his mind
And so he stands with their cares
With the weight of the world on his shoulders.
