Uncalled-For Memories

Uncalled For Memories

Everything is not enough,
When I have heard you say,
That you've tried to forget everything,
Tried to get away;

From the memories they left behind,
On there dying day,
Never forgetting, Thoughts a flitting
And your conscience starts to stray...

And you don't know if you can pull through,
Left in utter dismay,
And the next slow beat of your heart,
Seems to quickly delay...

Time seems like forever,
When you've lost something like this,
And everything around you,
Seems as if amiss.

But you continue to hold on,
And slowly start to heal,
And then unconscious in your sleep,
Your feelings will conceal.

They will eventually leave you,
Never looking back,
And you'll continue on,
Down the dusty track.

And again things will be normal,
You just have to hold on,
Until the memories you hold,
Along with your pain is gone.

Great poem, with a rare uplifting of the spirit. So many people write about depression and sadness, it gets to you. I'm glad to see something different, good job.
