Healthy Minds

by Michael D Nalley   Oct 6, 2006

"It is no measure of health to be well adjusted
to a profoundly sick society."
A lesson that was taught to me
by those searching for the serenity of sobriety

Sometimes we are puppets controlled
by trends and popular voices
Powerless to an addiction,
we follow the leaders to unhealthy choices

Though divine peace is born within us,
to many it is out of sight
We live in an egocentric world
where we believe might is right

Religion divides us,
as the masses think the path is too demanding
Unity in diversity
is a journey to the God of our own understanding

Politics ideologies, and philosophies
evolve while time slowly passes
Literature is a powerful influence on cultures,
reaching the masses

A poet hangs in the delicate balance
of the reality of man
Rebelling against a sick society
Love changes us when it can
