The Pair

There was once a group of friends,
you could call them a family.
That were together through thick and thin.
But time passed,
And days went by,
So two of them just drifted away.
The group didn't notice
Unless the pair drew their attention.
No one but the pair questioned,
"What Happened?"
The pair felt so hopeless,
So shunned
and outcasted.
But together,
Their friendship forever lasted.
The group became hopeless
And so dreadfully dreary.
But together the pair
felt so happy and cheery.
They missed their old friends,
It's too bad things happened.
It would appear
There were once happier times
But not if you read in between the lines...
I guess the two friends always felt uneasy
And that sometimes their friends made them a little bit queasy.
The group didn't last
Through thick and thin
Because only the pair
had true friendship within.
