A Search for Love

I never seem to find what I am searching for,
I never seem to find the thing I am longing for,
I never seem to touch what I am reaching for,
I never seem to obtain what I am striving for,
Everything I want, is unattainable.
Everything I need, is undeniable.
Everything about me, is undesirable.
Everything around me, is unreliable.
Why do I keep pressing on?
Why have I not given up?
Why am I still going?
Why not just let it go?
I have to keep going.
I need to persevere.
I have the goal in sight.
I can not give in.
All that I have worked for,
All that I have yearned for,
All that is within me,
All is ready for this one moment.
It all ended in the blink of an eye,
It all ended with one final sigh,
It all ended when I turn around,
It all ended with me on the ground.
She left me with nothing,
She took all I had.
She ripped out my heart,
She just left me for dead.
Another hour goes by, I cry alone.
Another week goes by, my wounds can't seem to heal.
Another month goes by, I can pick myself off the ground.
Another year goes by, I am off searching once more.
