Moments Forever Faded

by Twisted Heart   Oct 7, 2006

A woman sits inside her room
Her years are past at eighty-four
With tired eyes that's filled with gloom
Distant glimpses inside her soar.

Years past, they all seem so fleeting
A moment seen within her mind
With tenderness, she smiles a greeting
To the aged hands of remembered times.

The distant memory of love's first kiss
She sees it, then, so fast it's gone
In shadows cast, they do persist
Like broken pieces, that don't belong.

She wrings her weathered hands in fear
Of forgotten times that has escaped
Down her cheek, a single tear
That lost time could not erase.

Where are her thoughts, her memories
They seem to come and go so fast
Not giving hope of a serenity
She knows that soon this too shall pass.

The fleeting thoughts of lost emotions
Dig deep inside her heart and soul
Treasured memories of devotion
As the diseased thief takes his hold.

Now recollections in her mind
Cannot be seen behind her eyes
In sorrow now, she passes time
As she patiently waits to die.

That was so touching, since my Grandfather experiences it too.

In shadows cast, they do persist
Like broken pieces, that don't belong.

Good way of putting it! Jpoet*

THAT WAS SO GOOD! Even with my little sister yelling in my ear I got caught up in all of the emotion that you wrote with. Thank you so much for sharing that with us! You are such a wonderfully talented writer...keep it up! 5/5 for sure!

A deep and true meaning in this poem. Bringing the light on your message you wish to put across. Nicely done.
