The Promise

Days go by,
A million questions why.
We were happy when we were together.
He loved me and promised me forever.

But Hurt and sorrow,
Is all I carry with me today and tomorrow.
The pain is etched so deep within me,
Ever so present but yet no one else can see.

Life is not worth living without his presence,
Its as if he's still here I can smell his sweet essence.
Sleepless nights just thinking of his touch,
How did he have the heart to hurt me so much.

Heartbreak and heart ache,
This pain I can no longer take.
I lie awake and quietly weep,
Just thinking about him, crying myself to sleep.

I'm hollow, so empty inside.
A bleeding heart is all he left behind.
The love was so strong,
What happened what went wrong?

He could've left me before the damage was done,
Instead he led me to believe that I was the one.
And now my heart is broken,
Scarred with the keys only he used to open.

He's not mine, not anymore.
But the hardest part of it all
Is that he's got her by his side.
Arm in arm, him and his soon to be bride.
