Mask of Smiles

by AShatteredDream   Oct 9, 2006

Away from the cruel world,
I keep my heart locked away
behind the mask of smiles.

Behind the mask of smiles I hide
disguise the bruises,
dry my wasted tears,
heal my bloody wounds.
I'd put on the mask
To hide my broken soul, this
hideous face no one can love.
Behind the mask I must hide..
With a smile and a lie
as I say the words,
Yes I am all right.
Will anyone take off the mask?
Will anyone kiss my deformed, scarred skin?
Will anyone show me love so that I might finally leave these lies behind?
Take off this beautiful mask of smiles,
decorated with sparkles and bangles
and you shall find
the beast that lies behind.

Can you look past what you see?
Behind the mask of smiles,
to how I'm dying inside and I can't figure out why?
Will someone help me find out why?
Will someone take off this mask to show me how to heal these invisible wounds?

Behind the mask of smiles I hide
disguise the bruises,
dry my wasted tears,
heal my bloody wounds.
I'd put on the mask
To hide my broken soul, this
hideous face no one can love.
Behind the mask I must hide..
With a smile and a lie
as I say the words,
Yes I am all right.
Will anyone take off the mask?
Will anyone kiss my deformed, scarred skin?
Will anyone show me love so that I might finally leave these lies behind?
Take off this beautiful mask of smiles,
decorated with sparkles and bangles
and you shall find
the beast that lies behind.
