Trudging Through the Ashes

by Sam P   Oct 11, 2006

TRUDGING THROUGH THE ASHES
We trudge through the ashes
Of a fallen civilization
We trudge through the remains
Of soldiers fallen in battle
We trudge through the remains
Of a once prosperous nation
Remembering things
That would rather be forgotten
Tears rolling down our cheeks
As we remember the pain
The misery
That we all went through
We cannot stop
There is no end
Rubble and ruins everywhere
As far as the eye can see
We can barely continue
What is happening
The pain jabs through us like a sudden rush
Fallen
From trudging through the ashes
