I Love You

The scars on my heart are finally fading
The pain in my life is finally subsiding
And the fire of my soul is burning once again

There is now a new meaning to my very existence
I actually look forward to being able to laugh
And I find that it no longer hurts to smile

The past is now nothing more to me than a distant memory
The ones who existed within it can hurt me no longer
And those who have kept my heart captive must now set it free

The future is simply all I long for now
Not knowing what’s to come destroys me the most
But I fear that my days ahead will not be as I want them

I know that the path we’ve chosen to take will test our strengths
It shall question every possible moral, value, and belief
But it will prove to us both the true meaning of everlasting love

You have shown me that it’s okay to love once again
You have made me realize how lucky of a person I truly am
And you have made me absolutely the most appreciative person in the world

I need you and I want you—then, now, and forever
I am simply nothing but a lost cause without you
With all that I am, and all that I’ll be—I love you

Simply a beautiful poem filled with hope. Hope...something that is needed above all else.

I actually look forward to being able to laugh
And I find that it no longer hurts to smile

This is a great line, and relatable too. Great job.
