My Best Friend (Jules)

I was thinking back on me and you
And the silly, stupid things we've done
Dancing like we're hip hop stars
Laughing, singing, just having fun

Belting out notes we couldn't reach
But acting like we could
And heaven forbid we actually hit one
That sounded half way good

We stayed up late to watch movies
And quote lines no one got
We laughed until our air was gone
In a half laugh, half gasp we were caught

We'd talk about the cute guys
That existed only in our dreams
We shared secrets only we knew
Privacy was to the extreme

It's funny how much we've grown
How older and wiser we've become
I'm in college, you're at work
But together we stay one

Sometimes I want to just cry
That things didn't stay the same
Responsibilities took away
The fun in our childish games

But then I think of how blessed
You and I truly are
To have a friend to grow with
No matter how bizarre

I'm glad that you've accepted me
And together we'll still grow
I'm just fortunate I've got you
