Face the Truth.

by k i k i   Oct 13, 2006

When the distractions are gone,
I'll have to face that I've become.
Reality will eventually set in,
That mirror will end up hating me.

Wiping back years,
Ripping out strands makes no difference.
Eyes black and tired,
I hate the way things have been.

Reflection, looking before me,
Shares disappointment, loss.
Took chances, then backstabbed,
What's going on here?

Lies hidden behind a smile,
Reassured with handshakes.
They won't understand,
They can't.

Looking at me,
They see the imprints, images,
Referring to the past,
They don't want to know who I was.

Face of truth,
The mirror is another story.

Broken and forgotten.
