Friends is something I can do
Nothing more to give to you
I'm unwise and lack the strength
To be more than you and me

I need time to learn and grow
Discover me and all I know
You need years to figure out
Just what you are all about

Why force what doesn't fit
Over time it'll only split
Wish everyone would let us be
Let you be you and me be me

Wish they'd all get off our backs
Can't they see what we lack
We've no wisdom from many years
Just our stubbornness and fears

Our hearts are indecisive now
To know why, what, when, or how
We can't decide what we need
All you people please take heed

We're too young, to fragile still
Wait until we've had life's fill
Then let us make up our own minds
If together love we find
