You Promised Me

by Bobbie   Mar 16, 2004

Darkness falls and I reach out to you but your gone.
I scream in silence with the realization that you've gone again.
Once the horrible thought gets to my mind, I'm alone.
I sit on the edge of the bed and the covers are all crunched up beneath my torn body, I'm crying into my pillow, I try not to feel the sadness creeping up on me like a criminal meant to steal my happiness away from me.
All the happiness is now slipping away and are replaced with fears of loneliness that will always linger until your back with me to stay.
I walk down the toppling stairs, out the door, into the cool night air when I find you sitting on the swing, you look up at me, you come by my side and hold me to you while you gently touch my cheek where a tear is sliding down to my lips.
You know exactly why I am crying so you promise to never leave me.
We sit down and swing, I slowly go to sleep in your arms with the crickets chirping and the whipper will's song playing to no end.
