The Shadows of My Past

CONTEST POEM:

My past wasn't so pleasant
Somethings I hoped would end fast
One time I thought it was over
but I've woken to find myself in the shadows of my past

Some how it came back to haunt me,
many years ago
And thats not all that came back
In my heart, I could feel past pain drilling a hole.

This hole in my heart hurt ferociously
and slowed down my heart's beat
waking up in the mornings,
I stand to my feet

Eager for the day to end
Praying to not be hurt
Hoping for my problems to decrease
Needing to stay alert.

The harder that I strive to forget
The harder it is to get away
I hope to someday value my life
when my past becomes today

And if my future changes again
And I don't want my life to last
I hope one thing will happen when I wake...
to find myself in the shadows of my past.
