The Healing of a Heartbeat

by Twisted Heart   Oct 16, 2006

Just a pitter patter of a tick inside your chest
Pumping veins with new blood, as it travels through
Your body is a temple where your soul can safely rest
While it starts the healing from the pain inside of you.

Like a whisper of a moment that has faded from your mind
Its captured in each breath you take, then lost outside of time

From the depths of somber veils, it tries to find release
Among the twists that torment and offer no comfort there
Into the sight of understanding where hope can only lead
There seems to be a beacon when you tend it with such care.

It grows from just the silent touch that your hand can feel
Upon the chest, you fondly press, its almost too surreal.

Then it's thumps can be the mover of the hurt you possess
Inside the mind you let it linger, hoping it will heal your soul
From all the many times you caught your heart in such distress
From words and actions of the ones who's left you in the cold.

The healing of a heartbeat, though its soul is but a thought,
Can bring the joy and happiness that your mind forgot.
