Midnight

by Becky Trendall   Oct 17, 2006

Skyline dark,
Moonlight bright,
Strong upon the city sight.
One creature,
I am,
To roam the night.

Sharpened canines,
Brawny muscles,
Ending life in late-night tussles.
Leather coat,
Creak in hustle,
Racing to crypt,
Beat light in a bustle.

Created by the One
Of Sin,
Made to live in midnight's din.
Sheltered by a ruined crypt,
Seek refuge from light crawling in,
Overcoming nocturnal kin.

Fangs of ivory
Tipped with blood,
Opening gates for crimson flood.
Flesh be torn,
Spat out like mud,
Fluid bubbles like child's soapy suds.

Be I what thou seeketh
To stake and destroy?
Like some child's discarded toy?
Indeed I am a creature of night,
But thinketh me not part of evil ploy,
My good intention only hides,
Like girl part coy.
