Hey, Mr.Jack .

He lays awake as the clock ticks past midnight,
Looking at your memories enlaced upon his walls,
Under his breath, your good-bye he started to recite,
As he bows his head and to his knees he falls.

With blood shot eyes he looks upon his blurred past,
Tears stream down as he removes the golden band,
His fingers etch around the words on the cast,
As he slams his empty bottle down onto the night stand.

He awoke the next morning with a heavy head,
To his little girl tugging at his ring finger,
He layed there a minute or two in his bed,
As he reminded himself he was doing this for her.

The meeting began as he stood and said his name aloud,
All the blood rushing to his head; afraid to show his face - -
He stood up and looked ahead as he silently vowed,
That he would be sober when he left this place.

"My name is Peter, and my drinking has cost me my wife,
One time too many coming home to the whiskey on my breath,
She didn't like it much, said I was wasting my life
And that was the day I said good-bye to my beloved Beth.

Last night, as I looked upon myself I knew what I had to do,
And today, I stand in front of you planning to win her back,
So I bow my head, and say 'Hey, Mr.Jack - - this is for you!' "
And in raising his bottle, he said farewell to Mr.Jack.

He lowered his head and sat back down in his chair,
As his little girl looked up at him with a tear in her eye,
And in grabbing his hand she bowed her head in prayer,
Wiping her tears as she told Mr.Jack a long awaited good-bye.
