Teddy Bear

by Elissa morris   Oct 17, 2006

She looks into the mirror and wipes away the tears,
With the knowledge that her dreams, have now become her fears.
She covers her mouth as her mascara starts to run,
And thinks of all the things that were better left undone.

Her knees start to tremble, with her body thats now numb,
And fear in her heart, of what is next to come.
The mirror shatters, as it slips from her cold hands,
So weak, so alone, she can no longer stand.

Looking down she sees tears lying on the mirror,
Very slowly she moves back, never getting nearer.
So distorted, her image tainted, seeing all her flaws,
The pain, the suffering, continues without pause.

Softly crying into her arms, emptiness is all she feels,
Every scar and hole in her heart, time still never heals.
She thinks she's getting weaker, she knows she cannot last,
Time is moving faster, yet still wont heal the past.

As she drifts off into another distant world,
She lies on the floor, her body slightly curled.
Grabbing her teddy bear, tears falling all the way,
She holds her only friend, a bear that wont betray.

She squeezes her bear with all her might,
The bear hugging back, holding tight.
Quietly breathing, she cries herself to sleep,
Closing her eyes, for peace oh so deep.
