Hurtful Words

Hurtful Words
By: Twisted Heart

In the mist of thoughts that drizzle within your tainted mind
Comes the recollections of the dreams you left behind
To bend the ears with platitudes that seem a waste of time
Befits the whole, in general, when ungrateful minds collide.

A simple turn of phrase, when said in angry haste
Becomes the broken notion that we all must one day face
Upon the lips that holds a smile, that was neatly placed
Held there without a single clue of when you fell from grace.

And if you choose to conquer, with words that open doors
Remember there are consequences for the acts you store
Such hunger for the language of the ones who's gone before
Sliced by the very actions of the tongue's unyielding sword.
