Picture-perfect-artifical-love

by amandaa   Oct 18, 2006

I gazed at your kodak smile;
The happiness shining in your perfect eyes.
Looked at my own lips,
Happy, satisfied.
Loving life more than I ever had before.

Stared hard at my complexion
Remembering the feelings we shared,
Turned my gaze from my face to yours
And stayed there.

Stayed there staring
With regret for not grasping your love when it came.
Staring,
Wishing I had it again.

It's time to let you go.
I know.
that Time came and passed way back.
But the memories have built a home in my mind
And it looks like they don't want to leave.

Gazing
at your arms,
Embracing me.
Longing
For those arms once again.

Longing to bury myself in you and cry
Just like I did.
Longing
For you to bring me back to joy
Just like you did.

I take the picture down
And hold it in my hand,
Raise it up to the light,
Searching.
Searching for the answers.

Trying to find the reasons.
I lost you. Why?
You left me. Why?
You dropped me in a second
And threw me to the floor.

Sigh.

The answers are here
Right in front of my eyes.
But I don't want to see them.
I don't want to know.

It's time to let go.
I know.

Sigh.

Slipped the perfect picture
Down the crack behind my dresser.
I don't want to love you anymore.
I don't want to remember.

It's time to let go.
