The Drought in my Heart

by adie   Oct 19, 2006

Sometimes there is a drought in my soul
And the rain won't fall day or night
The sun dries the rivers and ponds
And water can't be found in my heart

So the land in my soul lacks hydration
While clouds continue clustering above
And my tension, too, grows with each stride
With each invisible moment in time

Dark solitude is all that's present
For pressure builds without release
It mocks my inner-self day in day out
And still dampness lays unrevealed

A crash from the thunders creates a storm
And today is taken over by a hoped-for flood
It causes my face to feel wet salt sinking in
And my anxieties are once more set free

After my anguish has at last been let loose
Familiarity is returned to my sunburned soul

A sunburned soul ey? It wasn't my favorite poem but you did an alright job. The title was interesting. The metaphor you used was very unique. The poem didn't personally draw me in though. That's just me though. I'll give it a three. I enjoyed the descriptive words you used by the way.
