Incomplete

by Vito   Mar 17, 2004

The sun has fallen long ago,
Went down and turned the sky to night,
Black and lonely without its stars.
My eyelids will not cover,
My mind will not rest.
I am unable to sleep.
I lie down to rest, covered in a blanket of velvet,
Yet still I cannot sleep.
I wrap myself in this blanket of silk,
This blanket so soft,
Your touch, so much softer.
Although a single handshake is all I have received,
A single handshake is all that I need.
That single handshake makes this blanket one of sandpaper.
My ears hear quiet music; gentle and magic.
My ears long to hear your voice, so soothing
So tender your words.
Your smiling image now in my mind.
Your smile so honest, so giving
Although only a few hours spent with you,
It seems I have known you for years.
When I was with you there were no problems,
And nothing was wrong.
The silences with others are unwanted and awkward
With you everything is right.
The silences and conversation, both bring me comfort.
The time we spend never too long.
These feelings are strange
Of one who not I know as well as most
