Sounds Of A Storm

by Jinx   Oct 21, 2006

Silence
Calm before a storm
Rumble
The first sign of thunder
Flash
Always followed by lightning
Drip
First sign of rain
Drop
Thousands more pour down

The sounds of a storm
To a little girl that listens
From inside a warm house
While she sits at a window
And watches the rain
Pounding on the concrete
And splashing against the pane

She witnesses it all in wonder
How water magically falls from the sky
She sees it through her child eyes
Sweetly innocent and ignorant
She can truly appreciate the beauty
That the storm can create
How it happens doesn't matter

She patiently waits for the moment
When the clouds will break
And the sun will shine through
Casting a rainbow into the air
With surprise and joy she'll cry
Mommy look colors in the sky

The storm has gone away
Water flows back to its place
And waits for the sun to come
Heat it back into the air
So that it may fall again
And see the happiness
In a child's sweet face
